SUBMIT A PITCH

Pitch a story for CryoSphere Chronicles

Send us photo-led essays, craft notes, field diaries, and experiments in visual storytelling. We love pieces that pair original images with sharp writing—and we also accept XML upload requests to import posts or galleries in bulk.

WHAT WE LOOK FOR

01

A strong visual angle

Start with the images: what will readers see, and why does it matter? Include 6–12 sample photos (or a link), plus a short outline showing how captions and narrative work together. We’re drawn to projects that use photography to reveal process, place, or emotion—not just illustrate a topic.

02

A clean, import-ready structure

If you’re submitting via XML, tell us what your file contains (posts, galleries, captions, dates, tags) and any special mapping notes. Use consistent titles, unique IDs or slugs, and image URLs/filenames that won’t change. The clearer the structure, the faster we can publish without back-and-forth.

03

A focused draft length and scope

Aim for 900–2,200 words for most features, or propose a shorter format (mini-essay, photo notes, or a single-scene story). Tell us what’s already shot, what still needs capturing, and your ideal publish window. If it’s a series, pitch one installment first.

GOOD TO KNOW

We read every submission. Expect a reply within 7–10 business days; if your pitch is time-sensitive, note the deadline up top. For XML imports, we’ll confirm receipt and follow up if we need clarification on fields or image paths.

Rates vary by assignment and complexity (including image rights and any XML cleanup). If we move forward, we’ll confirm scope and payment in writing before you draft or we publish. Please include your preferred rate and location/time zone.

Submit FAQ

Send a working title, a 2–4 sentence summary, and why the story fits CryoSphere Chronicles. Include a few bullet points for key scenes/images, any links to prior work, and an estimated word count. If you’re proposing a photo essay, note how many images you expect and whether captions are included.

We prefer a pitch first rather than a complete draft. For images, share a small selection or a link to a folder/portfolio instead of sending large attachments. If we move forward, we’ll follow up with the best way to deliver the full set and any required credits, captions, and permissions.

We typically respond within 3–5 business days, depending on volume. If your pitch is time-sensitive (seasonal timing, event coverage, embargoed work), note the deadline in the first line of your message. If you don’t hear back after a week, a brief follow-up is welcome.
